Respect of Right to Privacy

At First Missouri State Bank, our mission is to meet the desires of our customers. As financial service professionals entrusted with sensitive financial information, we respect the privacy of our customers and are committed to treating customer information responsibly.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

The collection of personal information online is designed to protect access to your personal accounts and to assist the bank in providing you with the products and services you want and need. All personal information collected and stored by the bank is used for specific business purposes - to protect and administer your personal accounts and transactions, to comply with state and federal banking regulations, and to help the bank better understand your financial need in order to design or improve our products and services.

Employing stringent security measures in the collection of your personal information, all First Missouri State online account applications are submitted through an encrypted direct line to the bank's secure administration site (Online Resources). Once the bank receives your account application only approved personnel may process the application. Furthermore, auditing mechanisms have been put into place to further protect your information by identifying which employee(s) has accessed and in any way modified - for example, updated or added to - your personal information.

If you choose to contact us via e-mail, please keep in mind that your e-mail address, and any other information your e-mail header shows about you, such as your name or organization, will be revealed to us in the e-mail. When you communicate with us, we will use your e-mail information only for the specific purpose of responding to your comments or questions. Your e-mail address will not be sold, nor will it be shared with others outside the bank unless we are compelled to do so by law.

Protecting our Children

We do not solicit data from children, and we do not knowingly market to children. Protecting children's identities and privacy online is important and the responsibility to do so is with both the online industry and with the parents.

Maintenance of Accurate Information

It is in the best interest of both you and the bank to maintain accurate records concerning your personal information. For this reason, First Missouri State Bank requests you to come to the bank to update your personal information. Notifications are immediately sent to the bank's secure administration site. This procedure allows First Missouri State Bank to administer security in updating your personal information in a timely manner.

Limited Employee Access to Personal Information

First Missouri State Bank limits employee access to your personal information to only those bank administrators with a business reason for knowing such information. First Missouri State Bank also educates all employees about the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy. In addition, individual user names and passwords are used by approved bank personnel to access your personal information online, providing audit trails to further safeguard the privacy of your personal information.

First Missouri State Bank is permitted under law to disclose nonpublic personal information about you to other third parties in certain circumstances. For example, we may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to third parties to assist us in servicing your loan or account with us, to government entities in response to subpoenas, and to credit bureaus. We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers to anyone, except as permitted by law.

Our employees are governed by a Code of Conduct that includes the responsibility to protect the confidentiality of each customer's personal information. Our employees are trained to understand and comply with these information principles.

SECURITY CONTROLS

First Missouri State Bank will require the following password protection practices:
  • A minimum of 8 characters for the length of the password
  • Customer must change password immediately after signing on to the Web for the first time
  • Customer may change password at any time
  • Automatic log-off after (3) failed access attempts
  • Data is encrypted when transmitted (128-bit encryption)
  • No automatic "save" feature for passwords
  • First Missouri State Bank will never contact any customer and request electronic banking credentials. If you get a call asking for your credentials, hang up and call us!
You can play an important role in helping us maintain this security by following these simple guidelines and tips to reduce the risk in internet banking:
  • Never give your Password to anyone. The Bank's staff will never ask for your Password.
  • Do not store your Password or other sensitive data on your computer.
  • Log out of Online Banking when you are finished using it. For added protection, Online Banking will log you off automatically after sensing a period of inactivity.
  • Block cookies on your Web browser: When you surf, hundreds of data points are being collected by the sites you visit. These data get mashed together to form an integral part of your “digital profile,” which is then sold without your consent to companies around the world. By blocking cookies, you’ll prevent some of the data collection about you. Yes, you’ll have to enter passwords more often, but it’s a smarter way to surf.
  • Don’t put your full birth date on your social-networking profiles: Identity thieves use birth dates as cornerstones of their craft. If you want your friends to know your birthday, try just the month and day, and leave off the year.
  • Don’t download Facebook apps from outside the United States: Apps on social networks can access huge amounts of personal information. Some unscrupulous or careless entities collect lots of data and then lose, abuse, or sell them. If the app maker is in the U.S., it’s probably safer, and at least you have recourse if something should ever go wrong.
  • Use multiple usernames and passwords: Keep your usernames and passwords for social networks, online banking, e-mail, and online shopping all separate. Having distinct passwords is not enough nowadays: if you have the same username across different Web sites, your entire romantic, personal, professional, and e-commerce life can be mapped and re-created with some simple algorithms. It’s happened before.
If you feel your Password has been compromised, let us know immediately by calling: 1-573-785-6800. Do not send us this information via e-mail.

If you are a First Missouri State Bank commercial online banking customer we suggest you periodically evaluate the possible risks to your account. Some key areas to check are:
  • Who has access to the internet banking PC and credentials?
  • Is (Are) the internet banking PC or PCs secured after normal business hours?
  • Do you have up to date antivirus and antimalware software on the PC?
  • How often do you change the internet banking password and who knows the password?
  • Is there a firewall active on your PC?

FIRST MISSOURI STATE BANK'S SYSTEMS

The Bank's systems are protected first by "firewalls" set up between the Internet and us. Firewalls are the "traffic cops" of network security. All messages in and out must pass through them, and they allow only certain types of messages to be sent to the other side. So, only messages that are legitimate Online Banking messages can be sent to our system. All other requests are refused before they can ever reach sensitive data on our systems. And those systems are also protected using industry-standard security methods.

Second, we monitor our systems to detect any attempted intrusions and ensure that all of the protections in place are functioning correctly.

Finally, we work to remain up-to-date about security system advances and potential risks. Our staff works directly with security experts to get new information as soon as it becomes available.

TRANSMISSION OF DATA AND ENCRYPTION

All communication between your computer and the Bank during an Online Banking session is scrambled with the highest level of encryption available for today's popular browsers. Encryption is the process of translating meaningful communication into undecipherable code and then back into meaningful communication.

To ensure a high level of security when accessing Online Banking, First Missouri State Bank requests the use of 128-bit encryption. It ensures that communication between you and the Bank cannot be translated by anyone without the correct "keys". This level of encryption is so strong that Federal regulations prevent it from being sent to any addresses outside the United States.

Technically, using 128-bit encryption means that each time you log in to Online Banking, your computer is assigned a "key" made up of a string of 128 zeros and ones. All messages from your computer to the Bank's systems are then coded based on this "key", but they can only be decoded using our equivalent 128-digit "key". It is never transmitted on any open network, since it resides only on the Bank's systems. It's important to note that each time you log in, a different "key" is assigned, so that anyone attempting to break through the encryption would have to start over from scratch every time you use Online Banking.

Disclosure of Privacy Policies
